Cobre Bem Tecnologia exhibits at NRF 100th Annual Convention in NYC
São Paulo, November 2010 – First Brazilian payment gateway 100% PCI DSS certified, market leader Cobre Bem Tecnologia will exhibit at Retail's BIG Show 2011. This event will take place between the 9th and the 12th of January in New York City, USA.
Next year, NRF celebrates a very special date: 100 years of retail leadership, and Retail's BIG Show has become a reference in the world of retail. “NRF has a capital importance for all of us that in one way or another work with retail. The 100 year celebration just adds an extra zing to an event that, regardless of dates, is the major meeting point for retailers worldwide,” points out Ms Ines Castanheira, VP of Sales for Cobre Bem Tecnologia.
Cobre Bem Tecnologia's participation in NRF is very meaningful for the company. Ms Castanheira highlights that once the company's name became a reference for excellence in the Brazilian payment gateway market, it was time to start thinking about international expansion. “NRF 100th Annual Convention crowns our expansion efforts during 2010. The scope of this event is wide, and at NRF we are able to not only share in worldwide successful experiences , but also - and most importantly - in the tendencies that will guide market growth in the next few years, markedly pertaining to the digital universe,” Castanheira says.
Cobre Bem Tecnologia: domestic and international – Throughout 2010, Cobre Bem Tecnologia exhibited in many domestic events where it showcased its safe and innovative solutions. As participant and sponsor of MPE Cycle from Câmara-e.net (Câmara Brasileira de Comércio Eletrônico), the company was present in all the 31 cities included in the Cycle.
Internationally, Cobre Bem Tecnologia exhibited in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, Mexico, USA and Spain. “ The most gratifying part of this expansion process is to verify live and real time how receptive people are to our software. Companies all over the world want to work with suppliers that develop trustworthy solutions. After all, merchants find it interesting that we are also working with LATAM payment methods at this level. We are proud to offer our expertise to different world markets,” said the VP of Sales.
Cobre Bem Tecnologia sponsors PCI Security Standards Council in Barcelona
São Paulo, October 2010 – Cobre Bem Tecnologia sponsored the PCI Security Standards Council, in Barcelona, Spain, from the 18th to the 20th of October 2010. Cobre Bem had also sponsored the Orlando, USA, PCI DSS – Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard – Council this past September.
PCI SSC, the PCI security standards council, meets twice a year. According to Lúcio Vargas, Cobre Bem Tecnologia`s Products Director, “As the first company to obtain PCI DSS certification in Brazil, and as member of the Council since February of 2009, Cobre Bem Tecnologia is current with that is most up-to-date in terms of security. This is why we sponsored the meetings in Orlando and Barcelona.”
Out of the nine LATAM council members, seven are Brazilian - Cobre Bem Tecnologia was the only Brazilian company to sponsor both events.
“The event not only represents the possibility of discussing the current PCI requirements, but also how to implement more secure and additional measures in view of the rise in transaction amounts", said Vargas.
The company's executive calls attention to the fact that only in Brazil, the number of consumers that have joined the formal market due to the economic stability has risen exponentially.
“Economic stability has many positive reflexes. Over 20 million Brazilians are consuming more regularly, whether simple products or those with a higher value, due to the existence of regular jobs and higher salaries. As expected, the payment method market has been and will continue to be directly affected by this. In this sense, debating necessary security issues for all the e-transactions ecosystem is fundamental”, he said.
Brazilian Contribution - It is fundamental to add that all participants are encouraged to discuss and analyze the new versions of PCI DSS, which allows Brazil to give its contribution to the process. “At the Barcelona meet, version 2.0 of the PCI documentation that will be in effect as of 2011 was introduced. In addition to being informed of the Council's main initiatives, of which version 2.0 is an example, we could contribute by sharing our experience in Brazil and our expertise in developing solutions, which by the way are renown worldwide as significant contributions to the maturing of the complex program that is PCI,” states Lucio Vargas.
International Growth – The PCI DSS meet in Barcelona brought together hundreds of leaders from different segments and industries, such as security, payments, finances, wholesales and technology. An intese work schedule involved conferences which were rich in information and directed by industry specialists. During breaks, the participants had the opportunity to network. In Lúcio Vargas' opinion, Cobre Bem Tecnologia's participation in PCI DSS Barcelona is part of the company's process of expansion beyond Brazilian frontiers.
“This process started in 2009. This year, we have intensified our presence abroad, starting with LATAM countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Peru and Paraguay. Recently, we have been to the US, Mexico and Spain. By the end of the year we will add Colombia to this list”, comments Vargas.
